Our continuous efforts
As part of the Conscious Travel Foundation, our owner HH Taimur Shabib Al Said attended the eCollective’s Carbon Literacy Course in March 2024 which provides participants with comprehensive knowledge and understanding of carbon emissions, climate change, and sustainability.
The course typically covers a range of topics, including:
- Carbon Footprint: Understanding what constitutes a carbon footprint and how individual actions contribute to it.
- Climate Change Science: Exploring the science behind climate change, including the causes, impacts, and potential solutions.
- Mitigation Strategies: Learning about various strategies to reduce carbon emissions, both at the individual and organizational levels.
- Renewable Energy: Exploring the importance of renewable energy sources in mitigating climate change and transitioning to a low-carbon economy.
- Sustainable Practices: Examining sustainable practices in various sectors, such as transportation, agriculture, and energy, and their role in reducing carbon emissions.
- Policy and Advocacy: Understanding the role of policies and regulations in addressing climate change and advocating for effective climate action.
- Personal Action Plans: Developing personalized action plans to reduce carbon emissions and contribute to a more sustainable future.
Overall, the eCollective’s Carbon Literacy Course aims to empower participants with the knowledge, skills, and motivation to take meaningful action against climate change and promote sustainability in their communities and workplaces.
Taimur has made 2 pledges for the next season:
- Individual Action:
“I will be researching and purchasing a solar-powered generator as well as solar panels that have enough power to run our fridge and freezer at camp, as this is something that runs at camp all day. It gets turned off at night to not disturb people’s sleep and it’s also cool enough.” - Group Action
“We will be eliminating all red meat for staff at camp. So, the only meat they can have would be most likely chicken due to its availability and maybe fish when by the coast.”
